MP's Broncos Update

Former NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle convinced "all the league's owners to adopt revenue sharing, arguably the most successful form of socialism in U.S. history. The reason the NFL is so dominant is because the NFL is basically Marxist. This was Rozelle's greatest coup, and everybody knows it. But you'd never guess that from watching the NFL Network. Marxism is not a talking point." -Chuck Klosterman

Regarding McDaniels/Profanity-gate: I don't think the guy should have apologized for anything. He didn't say anything unreasonable in the circumstances; in fact he didn't say anything that I haven't said at my job (which is moderately comparable). I think he apologized because he is a caring parent, which is a good thing, but I hope he doesn't change his ways. I like his fieriness.

First, that was a great game, probably the best game of the week. Second, the Broncos defense is absolutely worthless if it can’t keep Peyton Manning from scoring every time he gets the ball. How is it that Tennessee holds the Colts to 14 points in Week 5, but the Broncos, with a vastly better defense, get zapped for 34? Explain it to me, God. ‘Cause this seems like one of the paradoxes that could tear the universe apart, yet I watched it happen yesterday and I’m still here.

Aren’t defensive coordinators supposed to make adjustments? If Reggie Wayne catches 5+ balls on one scoring drive, shouldn’t the defensive coaches do something different next time? I’ve seen lab rats with more intelligence. They get shocked two or three times and they learn from their mistakes. Poor Darrent Williams got abused by Reggie Wayne…over and over. And nobody did anything about it. Come to think of it – isn’t that exactly what happens when the Broncos face the Colts? Manning picks out the weak link and goes to town. Well, he did the exact same thing yesterday and NOBODY DID ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I’m the biggest Larry Coyer fan out there, but somebody shoulda slapped that guy around a little bit.

If there’s one consolation, at least the Broncos managed to run all over the Colts defense. Mike Bell looked like the second-coming of Earl Campbell. He was blasting helmets all over the place. But wait a second. Just one damn second. Yogi Berra was right – it’s déjà vu all over again. Don’t the Broncos always run rough-shod over the Colts in the regular season, only to get stuffed in the playoffs? I’m sensing a pattern here, people. It’s like watching the boot head straight for your groin and being completely frozen.

I hope we don’t face these guys in the playoffs.
