MP's Broncos Update

Former NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle convinced "all the league's owners to adopt revenue sharing, arguably the most successful form of socialism in U.S. history. The reason the NFL is so dominant is because the NFL is basically Marxist. This was Rozelle's greatest coup, and everybody knows it. But you'd never guess that from watching the NFL Network. Marxism is not a talking point." -Chuck Klosterman

Regarding McDaniels/Profanity-gate: I don't think the guy should have apologized for anything. He didn't say anything unreasonable in the circumstances; in fact he didn't say anything that I haven't said at my job (which is moderately comparable). I think he apologized because he is a caring parent, which is a good thing, but I hope he doesn't change his ways. I like his fieriness.

Charging Home

Tomorrow's game may set the tone for the rest of the season. Another loss and the Broncos spend the rest of the year fighting for both respectability and the playoffs, neither of which they'll get. But if they win against the Chargers, they show the rest of the league that the opening game was a fluke and that they're legit. It won't be easy though. Under Marty Schottenheimer, the Chargers have become a higher quality team. Like the Patriots, the Chargers work hard on minimizing mistakes, playing hard on both sides of the ball, and never backing down. Drew Brees isn't the kind of quarterback that's going to kill you - at least not yet. LT is another story. He's the best RB in football and probably the best offensive player in the game right now. If the Broncos can shut him down, then they have a chance. The Broncos can't blow out the Chargers, but they can muck out a win. But if the Broncos don't assert themselves early the Chargers just might demolish them. Brees and Co. are coming off a tough loss in Dallas and have as much to prove as the Broncos. Plus they'll get Antonio Gates back for the first time this season. Gates isn't dominating but he can change the game in a flash. I'm crossing my fingers on this one.
