MP's Broncos Update

Former NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle convinced "all the league's owners to adopt revenue sharing, arguably the most successful form of socialism in U.S. history. The reason the NFL is so dominant is because the NFL is basically Marxist. This was Rozelle's greatest coup, and everybody knows it. But you'd never guess that from watching the NFL Network. Marxism is not a talking point." -Chuck Klosterman

Regarding McDaniels/Profanity-gate: I don't think the guy should have apologized for anything. He didn't say anything unreasonable in the circumstances; in fact he didn't say anything that I haven't said at my job (which is moderately comparable). I think he apologized because he is a caring parent, which is a good thing, but I hope he doesn't change his ways. I like his fieriness.

Excellence of Execution

I talk about most games like they're 'The Big One.' And it's true to some extent - In a 16-game schedule, every game IS important. But's let face it, some games really are more important than others. Tomorrow's game against the Chiefs really IS 'The Big One.' The Broncos' lead in the AFC West is slim. The Chiefs and the Chargers are both two games back. Plus, both are playing great end-of-season football. The Chiefs offense is clicking with Larry Johnson at running back. Trent Green and Tony Gonzales are showing signs of former greatness. The Chiefs run defense is one of the best in the league. Tomorrow's game is big because the AFC West is still up for grabs, and the Chiefs are right there fighting it out just like the Broncos and the Chargers. A win tomorrow and the Broncos are one step closer to clinching the division and homefield advantage.

Tomorrow's game hinges on Jake Plummer. Both teams have solid run defenses, but exploitable pass defenses. It might not be a shoot-out, but passing success is going to determine the winner. If Plummer can come up big, then he'll be deserving of all the MVP talk around the league.

My favorite wrestler used to be Bret 'The Hitman' Hart. His other nickname was the Excellence of Execution. If Plummer comes up big tomorrow, I will abandon all 'Plum' references and refer to him as Jake "Excellence of Execution" Plummer for the rest of the season. Rock on "Excellence," rock on.
