MP's Broncos Update

Former NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle convinced "all the league's owners to adopt revenue sharing, arguably the most successful form of socialism in U.S. history. The reason the NFL is so dominant is because the NFL is basically Marxist. This was Rozelle's greatest coup, and everybody knows it. But you'd never guess that from watching the NFL Network. Marxism is not a talking point." -Chuck Klosterman

Regarding McDaniels/Profanity-gate: I don't think the guy should have apologized for anything. He didn't say anything unreasonable in the circumstances; in fact he didn't say anything that I haven't said at my job (which is moderately comparable). I think he apologized because he is a caring parent, which is a good thing, but I hope he doesn't change his ways. I like his fieriness.

An Upset on the Horizon

Sunday's game against the Raiders has "upset" written all over it. The Broncos _should_ win. They're coming off a bye week and a dominant performance against the Eagles. The team seems to have come together at the right time and should play well in the second half of the season. But......

The Raiders are coming off a heartbreaking loss on the last play of the game against the Chiefs. They played an excellent game and will be looking to bounce back. Plus, the Raiders have a superb passing offense, including LaMont Jordan out of the backfield. The Broncos pass defense is clearly the most suspect part of an otherwise over-achieving team. The Raiders are going to test the Broncos secondary early, often, and late. If the Broncos' rookie CB's can't keep up with Randy Moss, Jerry Porter, Doug Gabriel, and Jordan, the Raiders will put up points in bunches.

The Broncos have 5 away games in the second half of the season. It all starts on Sunday at the Oakland Coliseum. If the Broncos can scamper out of Oakland with a win, they'll set the stage for home-field advantage in the playoffs. If they lose, be wary of another late-season collapse.
