Friday’s preseason game was primarily a waste of time. Out of all that nonsense there were three things that mattered: Jay Cutler, Mike Bell, and the defense. And here’s what we know:
Jay Cutler looked amazing. He made throws that neither Plummer nor Van Pelt can make or will ever make. His touchdown pass was glorious. If Plummer had that kind of touch then the Broncos would have beaten Pittsburgh. Cutler is clearly the future of the franchise. Jake Plummer may not even get all of this year. If he falters, and if Cutler learns enough of the offense, I wouldn’t be surprised to have a QB controversy in the Mile High city. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Bradlee Van Pelt will soon be selling real-estate in the Ft. Collins area. Good luck to you Bradlee.
Apparently the Mike Bell thing was a Mastermind ploy to get Tatum Bell and/or Ron Dayne interested in football again. Sure, he made some good plays and was able to fall forward, but he’s no starter. Not for the Broncos. Not even for the Texans. Bell won’t be starting on opening day.
I’ve discovered a new word for the defense: craplentiful. As in, the defense looked craplentiful. Granted it was the preseason, but they still sucked. This is bothersome. They shouldn’t have sucked. At least not that bad. Maybe there should be hitting in training camp, you know, at least once a week. Let’s hope the defense doesn’t suck that bad on opening day or craplentitude will be the least of our problems.

Former NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle convinced "all the league's owners to adopt revenue sharing, arguably the most successful form of socialism in U.S. history. The reason the NFL is so dominant is because the NFL is basically Marxist. This was Rozelle's greatest coup, and everybody knows it. But you'd never guess that from watching the NFL Network. Marxism is not a talking point." -Chuck Klosterman
Regarding McDaniels/Profanity-gate: I don't think the guy should have apologized for anything. He didn't say anything unreasonable in the circumstances; in fact he didn't say anything that I haven't said at my job (which is moderately comparable). I think he apologized because he is a caring parent, which is a good thing, but I hope he doesn't change his ways. I like his fieriness.
