MP's Broncos Update

Former NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle convinced "all the league's owners to adopt revenue sharing, arguably the most successful form of socialism in U.S. history. The reason the NFL is so dominant is because the NFL is basically Marxist. This was Rozelle's greatest coup, and everybody knows it. But you'd never guess that from watching the NFL Network. Marxism is not a talking point." -Chuck Klosterman

Regarding McDaniels/Profanity-gate: I don't think the guy should have apologized for anything. He didn't say anything unreasonable in the circumstances; in fact he didn't say anything that I haven't said at my job (which is moderately comparable). I think he apologized because he is a caring parent, which is a good thing, but I hope he doesn't change his ways. I like his fieriness.

Bronco Update - Cliff's Notes Version

-The Broncos won another preseason game against a crappy team.
-Whoop-te-do!
-Bradlee Van Pelt can't throw worth crap.
-Which is okay since Darius Watts can't catch worth crap.
-Perhaps they can spend the entire season working on fundamentals.
-On the practice squad.
-If I'm Mike Shanahan, I raise both Charlie Adams and Todd Devoe above Watts on the depth chart.
-They had some incredible plays on Saturday.
-Plus, they appear to have mastered football fundamentals.
-Unfortunately it probably won't help.
-Maybe the Broncos can convince Tim Brown to come out of retirement...
-It will be interesting to see who wins the starting running back job.
-And it would be a huge mistake to take the running-back-by-committee approach.
-Huge mistake.
-Besides, one of the backs will probably get hurt anyway.
-I, for one, like Mike Anderson.
-He's faster than he gets credit for and doesn't fumble the ball.
-Plus, if he's the starting back then I get to make a bunch of marijuana jokes every week.
-Tatum Bell just doesn't look that exciting.
-But Ron Dayne does.
-We should keep him.
-Let him put in some time at halfback, fullback, and team enforcer.
-The defensive line put a lot of pressure on San Fran's QB.
-Unfortunately it was rookie Alex Smith.
-He's a happy little deer frozen in the headlights of a fleet of Mack trucks.
-He's going to have a long year
-It may jack him up permanently.
-And no wonder - I saw an interview and the kid looks like he just got out of middle school.
-The offense looked good.
-But not good enough to score 30 or more points.
-The defense looked average.
-Average enough to give up 20+ points.
-Which against the Colts in the playoffs would equal 45+ points.
-But like I said - Preseason games don't mean crap.
